A surface mark
Staining or a scratch. Often invisible once the part is formed, painted or enclosed.
An edge condition
Damage from winding or handling. Trimmed out when we slit the coil to your width.
A dimensional band
Thickness outside a tight mill tolerance. Still inside what most fabrication work needs.
The question we answer most
Secondary graded is not scrap
It is steel that missed a mill specification. Usually by a surface mark, or a fraction of a millimetre.

Not scrap
Scrap is sold by weight to be melted down. This is usable steel, sold to a stated specification.

Not a reject
Nothing here failed a safety or structural test. It is material a mill classified below prime, for a stated reason.

Not a gamble
You are not buying an unknown condition. It is sorted by defect class, and described before it is quoted.
Secondary graded costs less than prime because of its classification, not because of how it performs. There is no fixed discount. Price is set per lot, against grade, defect class, quantity and the market that week. That is why there are no prices on this site.

Do you have the grade I need in stock?
Tell us the grade, thickness and width and we will check the same working day. We hold hot rolled, cold rolled, electro-galvanised, GI, electrical steel, tin plate, prepainted, stainless, aluminium, brass and copper.
What is the difference between prime and secondary graded steel?
Prime meets the mill's full specification. Secondary graded fell short of it, usually on a surface or dimensional point. Both are usable steel. The difference is the specification and the price, not whether the material works.
Can you cut to my size?
Yes. We slit coil to your strip width and cut sheet to your length in-house. TO CONFIRM: ranges and tolerance

Why are prices not shown on your website?
Secondary graded material is priced per lot, against grade, defect class, quantity and the market that week. A published price would be out of date within days. Send us your requirement and we will quote against it.
